Im Yoon-Ah lahir di Seoul, Korea Selatan pada tanggal 30 Mei 1990. Pada usia muda, ia mengikuti audisi di SM Saturday Open Casting Audition dan bergabung dengan perusahaan pada tahun 2002. Dia mulai berlatih dengan peserta lain dalam perusahaan yang sama di bidang akting, menari, dan menyanyi.
